Course overseeding is done in Florida when the base Bermuda Grass goes dormant in the winter and golf courses elect to overseed the Bermuda with a northern style fescue such as Ryegrass to protect the Bermuda as well as provide a lusher, greener surface. Overseeding is not done as much as it used to be due to seemingly warmer winters as well as the advent of new chemicals and maintenance practices that allow for growth and sustainability of Bermuda grass even in cold temperatures and even after frost conditions.
Pictured to the right is an example of a course overseeded at Bella Collina.
